Working Styles

Working Styles

Ryan Group’s Working Styles

The Ryan Group’s Working Styles assessment is an online self-assessment tool that provides insights into an individual's work style preferences, behaviors, and interpersonal interactions.

By understanding their work style profile, individuals can identify potential strengths and blind spots, and organizations can leverage this data to optimize communication, team dynamics, employee engagement, and overall workplace productivity, performance, development, and effectiveness.

The assessment results can pinpoint an employee’s working style profile and guide the development of personalized training, coaching, and development plans to help maximize their productivity and job satisfaction.

How we think and act at work

People bring different working style preferences to their jobs. Some prefer considerable people contact; others favor task assignments. Some think out loud and thrive in fast-paced environments; others are reserved and cautious, thinking before they speak. Our preferences influence our behaviors.

We refer to these differences as Working Styles, which reflect the various ways people behave at work.

Understanding your own Working Style and the styles of those around you dramatically improves your communication and effectiveness with your manager, co-workers, and the many others you come in contact with.

RGi created Working Styles for organizations and career development professionals seeking resources to assist employees, leaders, coaches, mentors, clients, and others, and strengthening their career mapping knowledge with fresh energy, confidence, and commitment.

The Assessment

Working Styles is based on studies of observable behaviors. Working Styles identifies four preferred behavioral styles that measure important aspects of a person’s behavior: Expressive, Amiable, Driver, and Analytical.

The online self-assessment:

· Generates self-understanding and self-awareness.

· Measures your level of emotional responsiveness and assertiveness.

· Identifies characteristics, behaviors, preferred orientation (task or people), and pace.

· Presents an overview of the four behavioral styles: Expressive, Amiable, Driver, and Analytical.

· Displays a graph showing the scoring results of your assessments in order of preference.

· Provides an in-depth description of all styles, including numerous techniques to help you better know your own style and recognize others’ styles. Once you understand others’ styles, refer to the style map to learn about their personality characteristics, strengths, and preferences. Observing other styles will provide you with valuable insights that you can use to build stronger, more effective relationships. Tips are given on how to bridge the gap between your style and theirs.

The Multi-Rater Component

The online, multi-rater component (360).

Working Styles offers an optional (multi-rater) feedback component, enabling colleagues to share their perceptions of your behavior and attitude.

· Provides a co-worker’s assessment to see how others perceive you, with instructions for completion.

· Shows a summary scoring for you to compare your self-assessment to your co-workers.

This information helps negotiate interpersonal relationships and tasks to achieve mutually satisfactory goals.

Working Styles Map

You can access any style in the Working Styles Map. Once you understand your coworkers’ styles, refer to the style map to learn about their personality characteristics, strengths, and preferences. Observing other styles will provide you with valuable insights that you can use to build stronger, more effective relationships.
